IT Network Infrastructure Lead – London £45,000 – £50,000 + perm benefits
A leading educational institute based in London is currently recruiting for an IT Network Infrastructure Lead who will play a major role in defining and leading the technology direction for core network infrastructure technologies. Alongside this the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the Network Managed Service contracts which will include coordination of design, development, support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the network infrastructure. The IT Network Infrastructure Lead will be self-motivated able to work both individually and part of a team and be able to build strong effective relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
*To supervise the Network Managed Service providers and participate in the delivery of a helpful, responsive and courteous service to all staff and stakeholders and to work in co-operation with all sections of IT in delivering excellent customer service.
*To manage the Network Managed Service providers and attend weekly/monthly and quarterly service review meetings.
*Responsible for ensuring that incidents and service requests related to the network infrastructure are appropriately logged with relevant, clear and accurate diagnostic information and resolved/completed in accordance with agreed service targets.
*To ensure that all IT changes related to the scope of the role are logged, approved and implemented in accordance with the IT Change Management policy and process.
*To contribute to the delivery of Network Infrastructure services in accordance to industry best practice (e.g. ITIL) and search for continual service improvement of all delivered services.
*In collaboration with the Head of IT Applications & Infrastructure Support and as a result of business engagement, develop plans for building solutions and environments that address the University’s business and technical strategies that are conducive to quick and inexpensive network infrastructure delivery.
*Responsible for capacity planning and security improvement tasks and review of high level/low-level designs along with migration plans related to the network infrastructure.
*To oversee, plan and schedule regular proactive and preventative maintenance tasks, including; patches, updates and upgrades to operating systems, firmware components, etc. in line with manufacturers recommendations whilst minimising disruption to users.
*To produce and maintain IT Network Infrastructure technical documentation, processes and procedures and Knowledge Management articles and act as a technical escalation point for network related queries.

SELECTION CRITERIA
*Educated to degree level or relevant IT Network related technical certifications.
*ITIL V2/V3 Foundation Certificate essential, ITIL Intermediate Certification preferred.
*In-depth experience in the day-to-day management of a Network infrastructure including management of Managed Service Providers/Partners and suppliers.
*Experience of managing and supporting Extreme networks switches, Aruba Wireless, Palo Alto Firewalls, VPNs, Infoblox IPAM and network management and monitoring tools.
*Good knowledge of network technologies, concepts, tools and practices, and industry standards such as the OSI layer, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), loop prevention protocols, SDN, VPNs, Policy based networking, WANS and VLANs.
*Experience of managing large-scale, complex networks and planning network migrations/ refreshes including writing/review of high-level/low-level designs along with migration plans.
